Why Locals Love BIANG BIANG 海鲜饭店

Nestled in the bustling heart of Forest City, Johor Bahru, BIANG BIANG 海鲜饭店 offers a vibrant culinary escape into authentic Chinese flavors that are both comforting and adventurous. This restaurant is a must-visit for those seeking rich, hearty dishes anchored in traditional recipes but with a local twist that makes each bite memorable.

The signature highlight here is undoubtedly the biang biang noodles, a dish celebrated for its broad, chewy texture and robust, savory sauces. According to patrons like Lance Chua, this dish isn’t always listed on the menu but can be ordered verbally—a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Complementing the noodles are delectable choices such as twice-cooked pork belly, lamb skewers that boast a smoky char, and crisp cabbage dishes that balance the meatier options beautifully. The unexpected beer ribs, though off-menu, come highly recommended by regulars like Jenny Kartika, who praises the generous portions and tantalizing flavors.

Seafood lovers will find themselves particularly enchanted by dishes like the salted egg prawns, described by Alvin Lai as “heavenly,” where the shell’s flavors enhance every mouthful, making each bite a rich, indulgent experience. The lala, a type of clam served here, comes highly rated for its fresh, finger-licking quality that can easily make you finish a plate of rice all on its own.

The vegetable offerings are just as impressive, with local favorites like long beans, lady fingers, and brinjal fried with salted eggs. Customers rave about the satisfying portions that ensure you leave well satisfied without hurting your wallet. The flavors are bold yet balanced, often carrying a mild spiciness that adds just the right kick to keep your palate intrigued.

BIANG BIANG 海鲜饭店’s atmosphere reflects the warmth and hospitality consistently mentioned in guest reviews. The boss and staff are notably friendly and welcoming, creating an inviting space where diners feel both valued and relaxed. Whether you’re stopping by for a late breakfast, lunch, or dinner, as Evan did, you can expect prompt service and dishes served fresh from the kitchen.

Located just steps away from bus routes directly from Singapore, the restaurant is conveniently accessible for travelers looking to savor authentic flavors without the hassle. The menus are mostly in Chinese but are supplemented with pictures, allowing even non-Chinese speakers to enjoy a seamless ordering experience.

In essence, BIANG BIANG 海鲜饭店 isn’t just a place to eat—it’s a place to experience the rich stories of Chinese cuisine through innovative and hearty preparations. Each dish invites you to savor bold, lingering flavors and generous portions that make the journey well worth it.

Price is reasonable. Tastes good. Friendly boss. Portion quite big. Had the beer ribs which was recommended but not on the menu. And the dragon chives which is very generous for a medium portion. There’s a bus direct from Singapore to a few steps away from this restaurant.

Was here for dinner and breakfast and left being satisfied, no, very satisfied of the dishes served. Prices are decent and wouldn't harm the pocket either. The salted egg prawns are heavenly. Don't even bother plucking the shell as it is good taste gone to waste, save for the head. The lala, it is those finger and shell licking quality and with that 1 dish, you could finish the entire plate of rice. Flavourful, not too spicy, a good strong aroma of the combination between belacan, shrimp and curry leaves. Heavenly. The fried chicken wings may seem dull. But be assured, each bite between the bones will have you moaning and pouting from crunchiness and ballooning taste. I have to stop. My stomach is growling. To end, it is one heck of a good meal that the journey in just for this meal makes it all worthwhile.

Came across Biang Biang seafood and decided to give it a try for my late breakfast fix (a late breakfast at around 11am). The menu has quite a good variety of options. I ordered a fried glass noodle and a fu-jian la mien noodle, both dishes being my favourite. And it turned out to perfectly satisfy my expectations as it was savoury enough. The fu-jian noodles were delightfully served with fresh prawns, la-la and squid as well. (Edit)On separate and subsequent visits, I had a go at their seasonal chilli crab. Also tried having a live whole steamed fish (Grouper) for dinner, which was very fresh and absolutely delicious. Savoury and fresh seafood at its best is what I'd come here for

Decent hot cooked food made to order. Fast and ok. Place is clean and service is fast. Only drawback is the indoor seating can get a bit filled with cooking smoke. Seats outside available but there are people that smoke, despite the no smoking regulations.
